A girl finds bloody vengeance in terrorizing every man who resides in the doctor’s home where she died during her failed surgery. A teen’s voice continues to faintly echo into the night after she jumps to her death when her lover breaks off their relationship. These are the kind of tales that make the historically charming town of Atchison legendary in haunting. In 1997, Author Lisa Hefner Heitz exposed Atchison as “the most haunted town in Kansas” in her book entitled “Haunted Kansas”, devoting an entire chapter to Atchison’s suspicious happenings. The Travel Channel continues to air its documentary “Haunted Town”, a program dedicated entirely to Atchison’s chilling stories. Since 1995, families from across the nation have come to “Haunted Atchison” tours, a one-hour narrated ride aboard the Atchison Trolley or RiverCity Coach to see the haunted sites and hear about the mysteries.
